Announcements, 11 August 2013

Beginning Sept. 4 at 5:30 p.m. and every Wednesday evening following “Quiet Hour’ service of Holy Communion will be celebrated in the sanctuary of St. Peter’s.  This will be a spoken word service and will include no hymns.  It will last about 30 minutes.  The service can replace the Sunday service, especially for any who find the longer service or early hour a burden.  It may also provide a blessed respite in the midst of our too busy- or not busy enough- lives.

Eleventh Sunday after Pentecost, August 4, 2013:

The gospel of Luke tells not only how Jesus brought good news to the poor, but also how he sought to seek and save those who were rich. Here he warns against identifying the worth of one’s life with the value of one’s possessions. Come worship with us on Sunday with Holy Communion at St. Peter’s at 9:00am and at Messiah at 10:30am. Sunday School classes meet at Messiah at 9:15am. St. Peter’s Women’s meeting after worship. Prayer of the Day: Benevolent God, you are the source, the guide, and the goal of our lives. Teach us to love what is worth loving, to reject what is offensive to you, and to treasure what is precious in your sight, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord.
